It is National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes time here in Fort Worth, Texas! The Super Stakes is the second leg of the NCHA Triple Crown, the second largest cutting horse competition behind the NCHA Futurity and one of the biggest equine events in the world. I’ve attended every Super Stakes since 2005, so you could call me a 12-year veteran.

The National Cutting Horse Association’s (NCHA) all-time leading rider with more than $9.2 million in earnings traces his rise to the top of cutting back to a special mare named Tapeppyoka Peppy, who is still influencing his success more than 30 years later. The latest successful member of this equine family, Dont Stopp Believin, lived up to his name and made Rapp keep the faith, knowing that talent runs deep on this family tree.

Inferno Sixty Six Heats Things Up in Scottsdale

inferno-sixty-six-crcInferno Sixty Six & Franco Bertolani • Photo by Stacy PigottThree weeks. That’s all Franco Bertolani asked for. One week for the Cactus Reining Classic. One week for the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC). One week for the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby. It doesn’t seem like much, but when those three weeks fall during a busy breeding schedule for Inferno Sixty Six, it required some consideration. In the end, Bertolani got his three weeks, and during the first, Inferno Sixty Six justified his trainer’s faith with a crowd-pleasing win in the Lucas Oil Derby Level 4 Open at the Cactus Reining Classic.
