Stylish Whizard and rider Luke Jones have been busy with three futurity wins this fall. The latest win came in the Colorado Reined Cowhorse Association (CRCA) Futurity Open, where they earned $2,668. Their previous wins came in the South Dakota Reined Cow Horse Association Rode to Reno Stallion Stakes Futurity and the North Central Working Western Futurity Open.

In Like Flinn Claims Second Straight World Championship
The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA)/Lucas Oil World Championship Show is more than half way over, and reiners took to the arena over the weekend. In the Senior Reining, In Like Flinn and Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Rider Casey Deary took home the bragging rights.
In the Past: Where it Began
The first National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity took place on November 13, 1962, in Sweetwater, Texas. That Sunday, as the three judges – Frank Dawes, T.C. Jenkins and H.J. Sonny Perry – rode horseback to the middle of the pen and strategically positioned themselves across it signaling the start of the finals, 20 riders tried to keep their minds off of the $10,438 to be paid out. It was the biggest purse for which they would ever cut.
Southern Cutting Futurity Announces Online Stallion Auction
The Southern Cutting Futurity has shifted their 3-year-old stallion incentive program to an online auction for 2017. All of the breeding fees collected in the Southern Cutting Futurity Stallion Auction will be paid to 3-year-olds by nominated stallions in the 2017 Open and Non-Pro classes.
Cow Horses Take Over in Oklahoma City
The first week of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA)/Lucas Oil World Championship Show just wrapped up, and the cow horse competitors got their time in the spotlight. In the Junior Working Cow Horse finals, Sippin Boons Farm carried Equi-Stat Elite $2 Million Rider Corey Cushing to the World Championship.
NCHA Futurity Entries Increase
Entries in the Open class of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Jerry’s Chevrolet National Cutting Horse Association Futurity, presented by Great American Insurance, are up 12.2% from last year. The increase in Open participation is reflected across the board in all major divisions with the event’s prize fund exceeding $3.5 million.
NRCHA Seeks Proposals for Sale Management
The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), the governing body for the sport of reined cow horse, is inviting proposals from qualified management companies interested in overseeing all aspects of the 2017 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales.
