The Southern Cutting Futurity has shifted their 3-year-old stallion incentive program to an online auction for 2017. All of the breeding fees collected in the Southern Cutting Futurity Stallion Auction will be paid to 3-year-olds by nominated stallions in the 2017 Open and Non-Pro classes.
This effort will create an even more attractive purse for the Jackson, Mississippi, cutting, held each October since 1983. The overall purse at the 2016 show was $580,165, including the limited-age event, stallion fund payout and championship cuttings. This is an opportunity for mare owners to breed to some of most premiere cutting horse sires.
Early stallion nominations include: Bamacat, Bet Hesa Cat, Cat Ichi, Catty Hawk, Dont Stopp Believin, High Brow CD, Kit Kat Sugar, NRR Cat King Cole, Once In A Blu Boon and Rockin W. Interested bidders should check the website often, as stallions are added as nominated and stallion nominations will continue to be accepted through Jan. 17, 2017.
Bids have already opened and will close Jan. 31, 2017. Three-year-olds by the nominated stallions will be eligible for the incentive purse the same year the stallions are nominated. Minimum bids start at 50 percent of the stallion’s advertised stud fee. A stallion’s 3-year-olds are eligible only if the donated breeding service is purchased.
The winning bidder will have until Feb. 10, 2017, to have payment by check or credit card to the Southern Cutting Futurity. The stallion owner/donor reserves the right to bid on his or her behalf.
