Double Championships for Benjamin Roberson and Bar Nothing Dancer at Eastern Nationals

In a thrilling showcase of skill, Benjamin Roberson and Bar Nothing Dancer, from Mineral Wells, TX, emerged victorious at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Eastern Nationals, held in West Monroe, Louisiana, from March 1 to 8.

Riding Bar Nothing Dancer (Metallic Cat x Little Belly Dancer x High Brow Hickory), affectionately known as Dancer, Roberson clinched not one but two prestigious titles – the Open Eastern National Championship and the 5K Novice Eastern National Championship for a total of $8,015 in prize money.

Roberson, along with his wife Nikki, owns and operates a facility in Mineral Wells. “Winning two classes here on her is probably a major career highlight,” Roberson expressed, humbled by the accomplishment.

Dancer, a six-year-old mare sired by EquiStat Elite $67 Million Sire Metallic Cat and out of Little Belly Dancer, has quickly become a standout performer under Roberson’s guidance. Purchased by Byron Walker of Walker Cutting Horses LLC last June, Dancer marked a 223 in the finals.

“Dancer is probably the nicest animal you could be around,” Roberson praised. “She tries her best, gives you 110% every time, and knows it. She just doesn’t want conflict at all – she tries her heart out every single time.”

Roberson emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and executing a strategic plan during competition, particularly when faced with challenging circumstances.

“Anytime you win two events, it really means a lot, but you also can’t go into it super stressed like you’re going to force the win because that won’t work,” Roberson remarked.

Roberson and Dancer are preparing for their next challenge at the NCHA Super Stakes, scheduled from March 20 to April 14, 2024, in Fort Worth, TX. Roberson thanked his support system, including his wife Nikki, Dancer’s owner Barron Walker, and his arena team [Gabe Reynolds, Guy Woods, Walt Erwin, and Brady Davis] for their unwavering dedication and assistance.

Reserve Champion

Four points behind Roberson and Dancer, Guy Woods and EE Columbian Red (Stevie Rey Von x Ichi Sangria x Cat Ichi) marked a 219 to take home the Eastern Nationals Open Reserve Championship.

Haighly Addictive (Dont Stopp Believin x Haidandsmoke x Smart Smokin Pep) and Andrew Larsen were one point behind with a 218 for third.
