Applications are being accepted for a new scholarship named in honor of the late Milt Bradford.
The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) announced that the award, the Milt Bradford Heritage of Ranching/Agriculture Memorial Scholarship, will be bestowed on four recipients during the 2021 Youth Convention at the NCHA Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth, Texas.
Recipients must attend or plan to attend a college, university of trade school with an emphasis on continuing the heritage of ranching and agriculture during the Fall 2021 semester.
Selections will be based on academic accomplishment, extracurricular activities and leadership experience. Applicants must be an NCHA member of good standing. The deadline to apply is July 6.
“With a declining trend in the agriculture and ranching industries, it is important to support our youth that plan to work in these fields,” said Mike Simmons, NCHA director of youth. “In doing so, we can ensure that the future of agriculture and ranching remains strong.”
Bradford, the scholarship’s namesake, was a long-time member of the NCHA and co-founder of Western Bloodstock, the sale company that conducts the prestigious sales during the NCHA Futurity and National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity. Officials say Bradford found his love of horses and cattle as a teenager, and he spent the remainder of his life pursing these passions and supporting the Western industries.
