Merck Banamine Recall

Merck is voluntarily recalling three batches of BANAMINE®/BANAMINE®-S (flunixin meglumine injection) 50 mg/mL in the United States, used for injection in cattle, swine and horses to the consumer level due to the presence of particulate matter.

FDA Antibiotic Guidelines May Effect Horse Owners

That means several antibiotics currently commonplace among farmers and ranchers will no longer be available for over-the-counter sales. Some of the affected antibiotics include penicillin, tetracycline, sulfadimethoxine and sulfamethazine, cephapirin and more.

Adequan® i.m. Shortage Expected

Due to renovations at Luitpold Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s Shirley, N.Y.-based factory, supplies of Adequan® i.m., the only polysulfated glycosaminoglycan (PSGAG) approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), are expected to be limited over the coming months.
