Ranch Sorting Brings National Events to Fort Worth

Ranch Sorting National Championships (RSNC) will bring two premier events to the Fort Worth facility this year, including its national finals. The South Central RSNC Ranch Sorting World Series comes to Will Rogers April 26-28, followed by the 2013 RSNC National Finals June 4-9.

01 BetOnACat CBushaw 12SFChad Bushaw and his 2012 NCHA Summer Spectacular Derby Non-Pro Champion Bet On A CatHeading into December’s National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity finals in Fort Worth, Texas, Chad Bushaw ranked just behind cutting’s all-time leading Non-Pro earner, Mary Ann Rapp, and just ahead of Dustin Adams, second on the all-time list, with one show to go in their race to finish as 2012’s top-earning rider.

Not too surprisingly, the year’s last and biggest event decided another tight three-way race between the Non-Pro division’s dominant trio. Thanks to seventh and 17th-place finishes at the 2012 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro finals aboard two mares, Pippis Longstocking (Dual Smart Rey x Hyperlena x Smart Little Lena) and Lady Writer (One Time Pepto x Cats Ruby x High Brow Cat), Bushaw secured his third Equi-Stat Non-Pro Award since 2002. He topped the Non-Pro division this time with $286,087 earned during the 2012 season.

APHA World Show Qualifications Change For 2013

painthorseThe Executive Committee of the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) recently approved changes to qualification requirements – including cutting and working cow horse classes – for their World Shows. The association hosts two World Show competitions annually: the AjPHA Youth World Show in the summer, and the APHA World Show for Open and Amateur exhibitors in the fall.

APHA and Cowboy Mounted Shooting Assn. Team Up

The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA) have partnered to provide a host of new achievement opportunities for American Paint Horses. Beginning in April, Paints competing at select CMSA events can earn double recognition, winning prizes and accolades from both associations.
