Twenty-three-year-old Missouri trainer Josh Murphy thought his horse, Got That Iowa Shine, had the talent to do well in the North Central Reining Horse Association (NCRHA) Futurity, held Aug. 4-7 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Apparently, he was being conservative.

Fourteen Cowgirl Hall of Fame buckles, sponsored by H.B. “Woody” Bartlett in memory of his late wife, Deborah Kelley Bartlett, were presented to the 2005 NCHA Futurity’s high-scoring female competitors in each round of the Open, Non-Pro and Amateur divisions, plus the high-scoring female riders in the $50,000 Limited Open and $100,000 Limited Non-Pro finals. Buckle recipients must have been members of the National Cowgirl Museum.

When Reyzin The Cash and Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Rider Gary Gonsalves entered the Will Rogers Coliseum on July 22, 2016, they were returning to the scene of their biggest win to date – the 2015 NCHA Summer Spectacular Derby Open. When they left the arena, they had marked a 229 to win the NCHA Summer Spectacular Classic/Challenge Open. They earned $51,250 for owner/breeder Tom Bailey, of Iron Rose Ranch LLC in Carbondale, Colorado.
