First Snaffle Bit Futurity Champions Crowned in Reno

jennynewman onekoolmoonJenny Newman & One Kool Moon • Photo by Primo MoralesThe Snaffle Bit Futurity Amateur Champion was determined by the scores in the preliminary go-rounds, and it was Jenny Newman, a cattle rancher from the south-central Oregon town of Bly, who took home the Championship, riding One Kool Moon (Cats Full Moon x One Stylish Babe x One Time Pepto) to a composite score of 642 (215 herd/213 rein/214 cow). Newman also earned a place in Friday's Non-Pro, Intermediate Non-Pro and Novice Non-Pro finals.

Anna Lisec Repeats In NRHA European Derby Level 4 Non-Pro

tari-whizenAnna Lisec rode Tari Whizin to the NRHA European Derby Level 4 Non-Pro Championship. • Courtesy of the NRHAThe National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Derby Non-Pro finals in Manerbio, Italy, lit up the Palasturla Equestrian Center arena from the very first competitor that went through the in gate. A young group of up-and-coming riders performed to the best of their abilities, making the sixth edition of the event one to remember.

Draw No. 1 in the second section of the finals was Austrian rider Anna Lisec riding her 7-year-old stallion Tari Whizin (Topsail Whiz x Tari Badgekin x Doc Tari). Once the duo closed their run, a 224 appeared on the score board and remained unbeaten, and for the second year running, Lisec took home the Level 4 Non-Pro Championship.

The 43 finalists that performed in the four levels rewrote history with the scores prove it. In the Level 4, the top 15 scores were all above a 220, and posting the amazing high score of 229 was Pierluigi Chioldo with Spooks O Lena between the reins.

The most versatile stock horses in the South will compete for World championship titles Oct. 28-30 at the Western Horseman Stock Horse of Texas (SHOT) World Championship. The annual event will crown seven new World champions who showcase their abilities in reining, cow work, stock horse pleasure and stock horse trail. The SHOT Futurity and Derby also brings top 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds to the show, vying for added money in the multi-class format.
