IEA Western National Finals Are Around the Corner

Nearly 200 of the nation’s leading middle school and high school equestrians will converge in Oklahoma in July to compete for top prizes in the 2017 Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Western National Finals.

The 2017 National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Derby will take place June 12-18 in Paso Robles, California.

In The Blood: Bea Pure Cat

Bea Pure Cat came away from the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Scottsdale National Championships with a double win. He carried trainer Morgan Cromer to the Open Co-Championship and owner Jill Roth to the Non-Pro Championship. The dual wins brought Bea Pure Cat’s earnings to $121,572.

NRHA Derby

The 2017 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby will run June 24 – July 2 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. The event features an NRHA Affiliate Summit, several parties, the Cinch NRHyA Speaking Contest, ancillary classes and the Open and Non-Pro derbies.

Goodbye to June Bug Dually

June Bug Dually put her name on the map in 2007 at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity. A decade later, on May 21, she was laid to rest after sustaining injuries in a pasture accident.

PCCHA Core Balance Derby & Classic/Challenge

The Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association (PCCHA) Core Balance Derby and Classic/Challenge will take place June 10-18 at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. In addition to a full slate of limited-age classes, the Mercuria/World Series of Cutting will take place June 16-17.

The Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association (PCCHA) Derby, Classic and Challenge’s leading open horse is High Style Travalin (Travalena x SR High Style x Doc’s Hickory), a 1999 mare bred by Carolyn Reynolds, of Acampo, California, who was ridden by Gavin Jordan and Scott Weis to total event earnings of $42,172.
