The long miles, hard work and hours spent putting the finishing touches on some of the best reining horses in the country culminated inside the Great Southwest Equestrian Center at the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) with a crowd-pleasing performance. The focus of the night was the Classic Level 4 Open finals where competitors showed up to battle it out for championship prizes, bragging rights and $75,000.

The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is now accepting internship applications for the 2017 NRHA Derby held in Oklahoma City. Interns will gain experience working a high caliber horse show, all while networking with people in the reining industry.
Wimpys Little Step, Shiners Voodoo Dr and Wimpyneedsacocktail have a new owner, but they won’t be leaving Oklahoma. On April 13, it was announced that Xtra Quarter Horses' headliner stallions, as well as the facility they stand at and everything on the property, were purchased by Silver Spurs Equine.
High school seniors who are members of the National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHA) are encouraged to apply for scholarships made possible by the Reining Horse Foundation (RHF). Applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2017, for consideration. Seven academic and need-based scholarships will be awarded by an independent committee based upon applicants’ academic achievement, financial need, future goals and involvement with horses and NRHyA.
