Reyzin and Rapp Take NCHA Non-Pro Horse of Year Lead

reyzinMary Ann Rapp and ReyzinMary Ann Rapp and Reyzin did what they wanted to do on Nov. 3 in Paso Robles, Calif. They won the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association/Borjon Auto Center Futurity Non-Pro Cutting Stakes with a 225 to earn $10,688, and more importantly to Rapp, 12 National Cutting Horse Association Non-Pro Horse of the Year points.

Those dozen points catapulted Rapp’s 4-year-old mare from a nine-point deficit to a three-point lead over her 6-year-old rival Light N Lily, a mare owned and ridden by Kaitlyn Larsen Wimberly of Millsap, Texas.

Katie Young, Copper Cat Capture PCCHA Futurity Non-Pro

In 2010, she rode For Instance to victory. This year, it was Copper Cat who carried her to a score of 222 and the $7,859 win. Both horses are trained by her father, Stan Fonsen.

During 150 dramatic seconds in Paso Robles, Calif., on Nov. 2, the 3-year-old mare Sally Cats Meow earned $32,000 and upgraded her status from solid cutting prospect to possibly great one.

The horse, bred and owned by Tom Bailey’s Iron Rose Ranch of Cardonbale, Colo., carried Gary Gonsalves, of Millsap, Texas, to a final-round 225 and the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association/Borjon Auto Center Futurity Open Championship.
