This year’s Legacy Sale promises to yet again provide reining enthusiasts a world-class experience. Held at the Cardinal Training Center (formerly Green Valley Ranch) in Aubrey, Texas, the Legacy Breeders Sale on Friday, Oct. 18, will offer 105 elite reining-bred yearlings. The following day, another 155 of the industry’s best horses will pass through the sale ring in the Legacy Consignment Sale, including proven broodmares, show horses, 2- and 3-year-olds under saddle and yearlings.
Competitive bidding and strong prices for well-bred 2-year-olds and yearlings were hallmarks of Don Horton's Strawn Valley Ranch Dispersal on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Silverado Arena in Weatherford, Tex. Produced by Western Bloodstock Ltd., the sale featured offspring of The Smart Look, the No. 1 living producer of NCHA money earners, including 17 sons and daughters of her sons and daughters.
Wagonhound Land & Livestock’s first production sale was held the first weekend of September at the ranch located along the Laramie Range in Douglas, Wyo. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the beautiful weather and superior horses.
The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Summer Spectacular Sales took place in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 2-3, with three strong sales offering yearlings, a production sale and mixed stock. A total of 184 horses went through the ring, with 155 selling (84 percent) for a net average of $10,205. That’s an increase of 15 percent over last year’s net average, which is a good sign for the market heading into the fall sale season.

Griffin Quarter Horses Complete Dispersal Sale, held April 6 in Ardmore, Okla. Well-known in the reining horse industry, Griffin Quarter Horses has produced some of the world’s top reiners and has captured several world titles. The complete dispersal featured not only horses, but also the ranch, equipment and tack. A total of 79 horses passed through the sale ring. Colorado State University’s eighth annual Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale was the largest in the event’s history, with an offering of 79 American Quarter Horses, and the sale generated $295,000 in proceeds, organizers said.
