Held Oct. 17-18, the Legacy Reining Breeders and Consignment Sales offered a record number of consignments, as 277 horses passed through the ring at Cardinal Reining Horses in Aubrey, Texas. Net and gross sales rose to all-time highs as a large crowd of reining enthusiasts packed the sale arena both days.
Nearly two-thirds of the way through the first night, Alwaysshineyergunsup walked into the sale ring for consignor McQuay Stables Inc. After several minutes of contentious bidding, the 2013 palomino stallion walked out as the highest seller, with Carol Rose signing the ticket at $80,000.

The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales were held Oct. 2-4 in Reno, Nev., during the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. The two Select sessions recorded increases in averages, with the highest seller coming from the Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale. Hip No. 439, Miss Peptoleno, topped the sale after the gavel fell at $102,000 for the 2013 sorrel filly. Circle Y Ranch consigned the One Time Pepto daughter who was purchased by Merle Fulton of Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP.
“The 2014 Congress Super Sale, presented by Kaplow Insurance, showed a stronger market over the 2013 Sale,” according to Mike Jennings of Professional Horse Services, LLC. “This year the Super Sale posted a higher sale average and median price, as well as the price for the High Seller.”
