While the overall average of $21,260 was under 2014’s all-time record of $27,696, it was just shy of the 2013 NCHA Futurity Sales average of $21,323 and nearly $7,000 more per head than in 2010.
In 2014, the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Celebration of Champions moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and in 2016, the show will feature a new event. The Celebration, which includes a derby, World Championship classes and the World’s Greatest Horseman competition, is scheduled for Feb. 12-20, 2016, and will host the inaugural Winter Premier Sale on its final day.

Docs High Flyin Cat was the highest seller at $22,000.The Marketplace at Ardmore’s Nov. 7 sale played host to a good sized crowd on a sunny Saturday at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In addition to the sale offering dominated by show horses, many came to buy part of history with purchases from Dick Pieper’s Tack Room Collection, which included bits, spurs, saddles and assorted gear acquired by this internationally recognized horseman during a storied career as an expert trainer, fierce competitor and respected judge in the performance horse industry.
