On April 23, the Marketplace at Ardmore, a performance horse sale, set records for a sale average and attendance. The largest crowd in its 24-year-history, representing just about every state in the U.S., gathered in the Hardy Murphy Coliseum to watch 150 horses go through the sale ring.
The catalog was slim, but the results were striking at Western Bloodstock’s National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Sale, with gross sales of $731,200 and a record-breaking average of $19,762, on Saturday, April 16, during the NCHA Super Stakes in Fort Worth, Texas. Miss Reycine, dam of 2013 NCHA Non-Pro Horse of the Year Reyzin, was the sale’s highest seller at $170,000.
The 2016 Triangle Spring Horse Sale, held March 18-19 at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma, concluded with strong sales to wrap a successful first round of restructured sale dates for the venue. The total sale averaged $5,750, with an 82 percent sales completion, which continued a steady gain for Triangle Sales’ total sale averages.
