Results of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Sale, held April 8 in Fort Worth, Texas, showed a strong demand for trained cutting horses. Sixty horses – 77 percent of the 81 head offered – sold for $669,300. The net average was $11,155; the top 10 sellers averaged $20,250.
The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) has selected Western Bloodstock Ltd. to oversee the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, scheduled for Oct. 13-14 at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Winter Premier Sale, which is held in conjuction with the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Celebration of Champions in Fort Worth, Texas, took place the afternoon of Feb. 18, just before the World’s Greatest Horseman finals. Hip No. 54, Tinseltown Throwdown, brought the highest price of the day when the hammer fell at $26,750.
The excitement of a positive sale environment was unmistakable among buyers, sellers and spectators during the recent Triangle Winter Sale in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jan. 27-28. During the two-day event, 81 of the 456 horses that sold went for $10,000 or more. The consistently strong sales led to a net average of $6,200 and an 85 percent sales completion rate (less those withdrawn).
The Augusta Futurity Horse Sale, held in Augusta, Georgia, at the James Brown Arena on Jan. 21, listed 32 performance prospects and broodmares in the sale book. Horses were displayed either in hand or on cattle, and the arena was full of interested buyers.
