2015 NCHA Futurity Sales Wrap Up

While the overall average of $21,260 was under 2014’s all-time record of $27,696, it was just shy of the 2013 NCHA Futurity Sales average of $21,323 and nearly $7,000 more per head than in 2010.


NRCHA Celebration of Champions to Feature New Sale

WinterPremierSale-LogoIn 2014, the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Celebration of Champions moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and in 2016, the show will feature a new event. The Celebration, which includes a derby, World Championship classes and the World’s Greatest Horseman competition, is scheduled for Feb. 12-20, 2016, and will host the inaugural Winter Premier Sale on its final day.


Marketplace at Ardmore Sale Includes Dick Pieper Tack Room Collection

docs-high-flyin-catDocs High Flyin Cat was the highest seller at $22,000.The Marketplace at Ardmore’s Nov. 7 sale played host to a good sized crowd on a sunny Saturday at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In addition to the sale offering dominated by show horses, many came to buy part of history with purchases from Dick Pieper’s Tack Room Collection, which included bits, spurs, saddles and assorted gear acquired by this internationally recognized horseman during a storied career as an expert trainer, fierce competitor and respected judge in the performance horse industry.


Return to the Remuda Surpasses $1 Million in Sales

The annual autumn sale is produced in partnership between the Four Sixes Ranch, Pitchfork Land & Cattle Co., Tongue River Ranch and Beggs Cattle Co. This year, W.T. Waggoner Estate and Wagonhound Land and Livestock also consigned horses to the sale.


$600,000 Mare Tops Center Ranch Production Sale

cr-tuff-lucyTarin Rice showed CR Tuff Lucy on cattle while the mare sold for $600,000.When the first horse through the ring sold for $85,000, it was a good sign for the inaugural Center Ranch Production Sale on Oct. 10. Roughly five hours later, having seen the bidding reach $600,000 for CR Tuff Lucy, the hammer fell on the last horse, wrapping up a successful event for the Centerville, Texas, ranch.


$100,000 CD Lights Yearling Tops NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales

shining-cd-lightShining CD Light was the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales highest seller at $100,000.The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales spanned three days in Reno, Nevada, Oct. 1-3, and included four sessions of cow horse prospects, proven performers and broodmares. The final session, the Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale, resulted in the highest seller, as Shining CD Light brought a final bid of $100,000.


Record $3.2 Million for Walton’s Rocking W Ranch Dispersal

BoonSanBabyBoon San Baby • Photo by Jim ArnoldIt was the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, when the final hammer fell on Tuesday, Sept. 22, for Alice Walton’s Rocking W Ranch Absolute Dispersal, produced by Western Bloodstock Ltd. at Rocking W Ranch in Millsap, Texas. Eighty-nine horses and embryos, the culmination of five decades of Walton’s selective breeding, sold for $3,230,500, with an average of $36,298. Seven horses sold for $100,000 or more; five brought $200,000 or more.


Triangle Sales Restructures Sale Dates, Features First Versatility Ranch Competition

tri-horse-logoThe upcoming Triangle Sales Fall Horse Sale, Oct. 29-31, will introduce a new schedule of events and some first-ever opportunities for buyers at the long-established Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center sale site in Shawnee, Oklahome. Pre-sale competitions will be a new inclusion introduced at the fall sale, as well as a new annual sale schedule, which will now feature three sales during the year rather than five.
