Rose, the American Quarter Horse Association’s (AQHA) All-Time Leading Breeder of Performance Horses, sold all but five horses at the historic dispersal, which was attended by hundreds of people from around the country. 
Highest-seller MK Lollie Pop • Photo by Jim ArnoldThe National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Summer Spectacular Sales took place in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 2-3, with three strong sales offering yearlings, a production sale and mixed stock. A total of 184 horses went through the ring, with 155 selling (84 percent) for a net average of $10,205. That’s an increase of 15 percent over last year’s net average, which is a good sign for the market heading into the fall sale season.
Highest-seller Kachina Oak OlenaAnticipation was high for the Griffin Quarter Horses Complete Dispersal Sale, held April 6 in Ardmore, Okla. Well-known in the reining horse industry, Griffin Quarter Horses has produced some of the world’s top reiners and has captured several world titles. The complete dispersal featured not only horses, but also the ranch, equipment and tack. A total of 79 horses passed through the sale ring. Total gross sales were $1,468,600 with an overall average of $18,590.
Colorado State University’s eighth annual Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale was the largest in the event’s history, with an offering of 79 American Quarter Horses, and the sale generated $295,000 in proceeds, organizers said.
The Four Sixes Ranch in Guthrie, Texas, will host the annual Return to the Remuda Sale September 27-28. The sale will include registered American Quarter Horses of various ages from four historic ranches: Four Sixes Ranch, Beggs Cattle Company, Pitchfork Cattle Company and Tongue River Ranch. Three of the ranches are winners of the prestigious AQHA Best Remuda Award, which recognizes the outstanding foundation that ranch horses laid for the American Quarter Horse. In addition to offering some of the best horses in the industry, the sale also serves as an unofficial reunion for American Quarter Horse enthusiasts.
