Net and gross sales rose to all-time highs as a large crowd of reining enthusiasts packed the sale arena both days.

Nearly two-thirds of the way through the first night, Alwaysshineyergunsup walked into the sale ring for consignor McQuay Stables Inc. After several minutes of contentious bidding, the 2013 palomino stallion walked out as the highest seller, with Carol Rose signing the ticket at $80,000.

The two Select sessions recorded increases in averages, with the highest seller coming from the Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale. Hip No. 439, Miss Peptoleno, topped the sale after the gavel fell at $102,000 for the 2013 sorrel filly. Circle Y Ranch consigned the One Time Pepto daughter who was purchased by Merle Fulton of Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP.

silverado salesThe Silverado sale arena will be the site of a new Western Bloodstock sale this fall.In a move to broaden the market and offer premium auctions at moderate prices for all classes of performance horses, Western Bloodstock Ltd. has expanded its roster to include three new sales, in addition to their premier venues at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity, NCHA Super Stakes, and NCHA Summer Spectacular Sales in Fort Worth.

The new sales are the Western Fall Roundup, to be held on Sept. 6, at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, Ark.; the Big Bash on the Brazos on Sept. 23 at Silverado Arena in Weatherford, Texas; and the Western Winter Roundup on Jan. 10, 2015, at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

Records Set in Pro Horse Services May Online Auction

The company has been holding online auctions since December 2012. Pro Horse Services owner Mike Jennings said, “Our new high seller brought $30,100. We registered 276 bidders and had 71,855 page views for the online catalog by the end of bidding.”

The highest-seller, Ellusive Clue, is a 3-year-old daughter of Mr Elusive who sold in foal to JMK Bocephus for $30,100. The filly was from the JMK Quarter Horses consignment and sold to Virginia Webber of Kansas.
