rd-bud-lightRD Bud Light and Ron Davis were the 2007 NCHA $3,000 Novice Non-Pro World Champions. • Photo by Suzanne ForrestBend, Oregon cutter Ron Davis and RD Bud Light have quite a history together. In 2007, they won the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) $3,000 Novice Non-Pro World Championship after taking the NCHA World Finals $3,000 Novice Non-Pro Show Championship to cap off a phenomenal season. They’re still showing, although these days they chase points on the NCHA's Horizon Yacht Senior World Tour.

The longtime partnership nearly came to an end on Saturday, April 9, when a barn fire destroyed Davis’ barn and everything in it. It was luck, or many a helping hand from above, that prompted Davis to turn out “Bud Light” just 30 minutes before the fire ignited.
