The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) has announced internship opportunities at the 2015 NRHA Derby in June and during the NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show in November. Applicants are encouraged to apply before May 1, 2015 to be considered for these exciting opportunities in the reining horse industry.
At a felony readiness conference on Tuesday, March 24, reining trainer Mark Arballo pleaded guilty to one felony animal cruelty charge relating to the death of Bella Gunnabe Gifted in September 2013.
Arballo had originally entered a not-guilty plea in the San Diego Superior Court, South County Division, on Oct. 2, 2014. A felony jury trial was on the docket for Monday, May 18. Following the felony readiness conference, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office confirmed the felony jury trial had been vacated and that a sentencing hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Former National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) President and long-time member of the NRHA Executive Committee and Board of Directors Dell Hendricks introduced his new Spin It Back program in early March. The program, which begins during the 2015 breeding season, will benefit NRHA Affiliate Associations.

Early on, the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) began to offer kids' activities for various special occasions. By last year, these sessions were taking place daily and their popularity has resulted in an expanded program for 2015, the Reiner Kids Academy.

The Slide Street Journal is the voice of the NRBC, emailed periodically year-round with news of the program and the event. During the show, this year set for April 13-19, it is printed and hand-delivered to the stall area early each morning along with being emailed around the globe in digital form.
At the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA)’s most recent board of directors' meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Hall of Fame committee recommended several nominees for induction into the NRHA Hall of Fame and consideration for the NRHA Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award. The board voted to induct Terry Thompson, Miss Tinseltown and Smart Spook into the NRHA Hall of Fame. Kenny Eppers and Bob Stinner will each receive the NRHA Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award. These highly-coveted honors will be celebrated at the NRHA Annual Awards Banquet on June 20, 2015 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) concluded five days of productive meetings with NRHA’s top leaders this past week in Scottsdale, Arizona. Focusing on the association’s core business objectives for 2015, the NRHA’s board of directors also met to guide the future of the sport of reining.
The National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) Varsity Reining Club awarded 13 scholarships in 2014, totaling more than $5,000. The Varsity Reining Club encourages reining youth to be more active in their communities, and rewards participants for their scholastic accomplishments.
The National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) members can apply for more than $10,500 in scholarships now through May 15, 2015.
The Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) awards nearly $50,000 in scholarships to members of the NRHyA annually, of which $10,500 is awarded through academic and need based scholarships. The application is available for download at nrhya.com. Applications must be postmarked by May 15, 2015.
