The final deadline to nominate candidates to the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Executive Committee and Board of Directors passed on Aug. 2, so a complete slate of candidates is now presented to the membership for consideration.

Modine Smith Passes at Age 94

Modine Smith, 94, of Grass Valley, California, passed away on July 22. Smith, along with her late husband, Ed, selflessly committed herself to the betterment and promotion of cutting for nearly five decades.

Goodbye to Bobby Pidgeon

George Robert “Bobby” Pidgeon Sr., of Moscow, Tennessee, passed away July 14 after an extended illness. As a National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) competitor, breeder, show producer, raconteur and enthusiast, Pidgeon had few equals.

Farrier Association Creates Scholarship for Veterinary Students

The American and International Associations of Professional Farriers (AAPF/IAPF) are pleased to announce the "2018 Frank Gravlee Scholarship." The goal of this scholarship is to encourage veterinary students, and recent veterinary college graduates (within two years of graduation), to pursue their continuing education by attending the 2018 International Hoof-Care Summit. The dates for the 2018 Summit are Jan. 23-26.
