Two weeks ago: May 6, 2017, the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby took place in Louisville, Kentucky. The field had 20 horses in it, the 20 best 3-year-old Thoroughbred racehorses in the world. Four of the 20 horses, or 20 percent of the field, had direct ties to bloodlines my family purchased firsthand, including the winner, Always Dreaming!

They returned to the show this year with their eyes on the prize, and that focus was rewarded with all the glory from the Level 4 Open Championship.

NRHA Board of Directors May Meeting Recap

9c1855c4-aad5-4f95-82aa-48d6d1175017The NRHA approved several rule changes and made other decisions when the executive committee and board of directors met in early May.The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) hosted meetings for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors in Oklahoma City on May 1-2. The members, elected by the membership annually, reviewed and prepared for discussion of agenda items; raised issues and spoke of opportunities; and voted to make decisions to guide the progress of the association. In total, the board members committed nearly 250 hours of effort to the NRHA over the course of two days.
