The Boom Shernic Syndicate announces the sale of Boom Shernic to Silver Spurs Equine LLC for an undisclosed sum. Boom Shernic, a 2004 sorrel stallion (Boomernic x She And Chic Dunit x Smart Chic Olena) with more than $278,000 in earnings, is currently ranked as the No. 5 highest-earning stallion in the National Reining Horse Association. Boom Shernic was trained and shown by Craig Schmersal, of Schmersal Reining, Overbrook, Okla.

Latin American Championships

aqha_logoThe American Quarter Horse Association will host its first Latin American Championships April 17-22 in Avaré, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event is open to all AQHA members in good standing who reside in or are citizens of Latin America. Horses exhibited must be registered American Quarter Horses, and special arrangements will be allowed for leased horses to compete.

AQHA Incentive Fund Payout

aqha_logoMore than $2.7 million will be divided among nominated foals that earned a total of 130,066.5 points – making the American Quarter Horse Association Incentive Fund payout for the 2011 show season $21.14 per point.

On A Mission

With five horses and a dog, Tae, Brandye and Ashley Nelsey, who are 23 and 21, started out in September from their home in West Branch, Mich., on a 1,400-mile trail ride to Houston, Texas. They are raising money and awareness for their hometown church’s project to build water wells in Haiti.

When they got into Mississippi, they met a storm and Pat Earnheart.

Westfall Horsemanship, Mount Gilead, Ohio, the home base of horse trainer and freestyle reining champion Stacy Westfall, announced via stacywestfallhorseblog.com that the 2001 mare Whizards Baby Doll was humanely euthanized on Feb. 8, 2012.
