NCHA Announces 2023 Julie Dvorak Hansma Non-Pro Sportsmanship Award Recipient

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) was honored to present Mary Jo Milner as the recipient of the 2023 Julie Dvorak Hansma Non-Pro Sportsmanship Award.

This award will be presented to Milner at the 2023 NCHA Metallic Cat World Championship Futurity as part of a special presentation.

As of Nov 13, 2023 Milner was an EquiStat Elite $2 Million Rider, and nearing on the $3 Million mark.

Milner started competing in the cutting horse industry in 1972 when her husband gave her his horse to compete with. Since then, she has been to the World Finals 24 years in a row (with a total of 35 years), bringing home the title of NCHA World Champion 8 of those years and NCHA Reserve World Champion 7 times. Milner has been on several committees within the NCHA, including the Open Show, Youth, Non-Pro and many others.

“This might be the best award I have ever received. It is what I would really like my reputation to represent. The cutting horse world is my second family and I look forward to relationships with all of them,” said Milner.

“We cannot think of a better recipient for the 2023 Julie Dvorak Hansma Non-Pro Sportsmanship Award,” said Jay Winborn, Executive Director of the NCHA. “Milner has been a part of the National Cutting Horse Association for many years and is a great representation of the sportsmanship all members strive for.”
