CS Nifty Sailor pulls $100,000 check at Second Show

CS Nifty Sailor may not have started his career until he was four-years-old, but he is well on his way to a successful career. With Gina-Maria Schumacher in his saddle, the young bay is yet another XCS Ranch LLC horse bound for big stages.

At his first show, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby, CS Nifty Sailor (Gotta Nifty Gun x La Bigia Sailor x Frozen Sailor) raked in $4,345 and a first place finish in the Novice horse NonPro Derby.

CS Nifty Sailor is a half-brother to CS Sailing Gun (Gunners Enterprize x La Bigia Sailor x Frozen Sailor) who Schumacher won the L4 Non Pro Derby on. Their dam, La Bigia Sailor, was often Corinna Schumacher’s mount and won $21,390 in her European show career. She remains a broodmare, now in Texas at XCS Ranch.

Hence why CS Nifty Sailor got a late start to his career.

“We brought him over from Europe as a three-year-old and he wasn’t broke enough compared to what we had at that time [during futurity season],” Gina said.

It seems as though the young stallion is ready to make up for lost time. He marked a 222.5 to win the 100X Non Pro Stakes level 4 and bring home a check for $100,000 on his second trip to town. The pair also snagged $5,557 for the 100X Level 4 Stakes Novice Horse class.

“The whole run was fun but his stops were a big highlight,” Schumacher said.

Jack Meadows captured the reserve championship on Fire N Rein (Spooks Gotta Whiz x Chicsdreamofdiamonds x Magnum Chic Dream) and a check for $42,000. Mandy McCutcheon and Gold Star Gunner (Gunners Special Nite x Belle Starr Dun It x Hollywood Dun It) took third with a 217.5 for $15,000.
