Shane Steffen & Sprinkld ConfettiCat take the Cake at NSHA Worlds Richest Stock Horse

Two weeks in Las Vegas, Nevada paid off for Shane Steffen and Sprinkld ConfettiCat. The pair headed south from their home base in Oregon for The Run For A Million reined cow horse challenge early in August and weren’t coming home without some hardware.

Steffen, and Julia Jaspen’s sorrel mare by WR This Cats Smart and out of PPH Especial Nitro (Nitro Dual Doc), had a tough cow during The Run For A Million (TRFAM). They still came out in ninth with an $8,000 check.

“It’s fun getting to show that little mare,” Steffen said. “She just keeps getting better and more confident.”

Only a few days after TRFAM, Steffen had the chance to show her again during the National Stock Horse Association (NSHA) Worlds Richest Stock Horse.

The pair made the most of their second show in Vegas and won not only the Worlds Richest Stock Horse, but the Intermediate Open Bridle Spectacular, and snatched the reserve champion place in the TRFAM 2024 qualifier. In total, they raked in $30,000 for their efforts.

“I’m just blessed to have gotten good cattle and be riding these good horses,” Steffen said. He also won the NSHA Futurity on Dr Strangelove (Shiners Voodoo Dr x Very Smart Sweetheart x Very Smart Remedy).

TRFAM 2024 Qualifiers

Steffen was among five riders who punched their tickets back to Vegas next fall for The Run For A Million. Four of those five riders competed in the $200,000 event this year. They are; Abbie Phillips, Sarah Dawson, Justin Wright and, of course, Shane Steffen. Although they all qualified on the same horses that they rode in TRFAM this year, they can choose any horse they please for TRFAM 2024.

Taking the Champion title home from the TRFAM qualifier is a man that was seen cheering his daughter on to her TRFAM Youth Cow Horse championship the week before. Jake Telford punched his own ticket to TRFAM 2024 on Upper Class Cat (Moms Stilish Cat x DJ Little Star x Diamond J Star).
