In 2022 the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby boosted EquiStat offspring earnings for a select number of dams. In honor of the 2023 6666 Derby June 13 – 25 let’s look back at impactful dams with offspring in the Derby last year.
The top open dam was Americasnextgunmodel (Colonels Smoking Gun x Cee Dun It Do It x Hollywood Dun It). She captured $83,042 in offspring earnings at the NRHA Derby in 2022. Americasnexttopgun (Walla Walla Whiz x Americasnextgunmodel x Colonels Smoking Gun) was her top earner. He captured the L4 Open Derby Championship with EquiStat Elite $3 Million rider Casey Deary aboard, bringing home a check for $77,000.
The dam with highest offspring earnings in the Non-Pro classes last year was Chicsdreamofdiamonds (Magnum Chic Dream x Princess In Diamonds x Shining Spark) the 2016 NRHA Futurity L4 Non-Pro Champion. Her offspring, Tribbiani (Gunnatrashya x Chicsdreamofdiamonds x Magnum Chic Dream) captured the L4 Non-Pro Championship for owner Amy Medows. He and Jack Medows left the pen with a check for $31,351.
