Adan Banuelos and Kenneth Platt Tie for top titles in Reyzin the Cash PCCHA Open Derby Finals

The Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association (PCCHA) Reyzin The Cash Open Derby finals was a night to remember. EquiStat Elite $6 Milion Rider Adan Banuelos was the third draw in the finals go and laid down an impressive 223 with Beautiful Lies, setting the bar high for the riders to follow.

His score held until the fifth draw of the second set when EquiStat Elite $2 Million Rider Kenneth Platt matched Banuelos’s 223 aboard Roasting owned by EquiStat Elite $5 Breeder Linda Holmes. Holmes bred the 2019 chestnut stallion by Hottish and out of Betty Greble (Stylish Rey).

Banuelos rode Beautiful Lies for Aspen, Colorado based owners SMF Cutting Horses, LLC. Ken Sitton of Freeport, Texas bred the 2019 bay mare who is also by Hottish and out of Suen You Will See (Boon Too Suen).

Both riders won $14,500 for the co-championship title. Adan Banuelos and Kenneth Platt also tied for third/fourth place with scores of 220.5.

Platt rode Stylin High Brow (High Brow Cat x Stylin Playgirl x Docs Stylish Oak) for owners Redtowns N5 Land and Livestock and Banuelos rode Steem (Hottish x Cat Mist x High Brow Cat) for John and Barbara Gaughan. Both rides paid $10,000.

Banuelos and Platt added another $39,000 to EquiStat Elite $13 Million Sire Hottish’s offspring earnings that day. Kenny Platt is nearing the $3 Million mark as a rider, according to EquiStat.

Bradey Davis took home the Intermediate Derby title riding WH Catastrophic (Metallic Cat x Chulas Merada x Chula Dual) for owner Wayne Holden of Texarkana. Arkansas. Their 221 earned a check for $6,000.
