Triangle Horse Sales reports a record-breaking sale topper in the 43rd Triangle Spring Sale.
With 250 catalogued horses in the Spring sale, organizers experienced sale averages that remained consistent with the previous two sales. The average of the two-day sale held May 5th and 6th was $13,682 per head, less withdrawals, with a 83-percent sales completion.
While the sale included several quality Western performance horses, it was a highly successful barrel racing mare that smashed records as she walked through the sale ring. Hip No. 115, Zumanity Cristal CMV (Best Of Beduino x Cristalquikdash01ibr x Royal Quick Dash), broke the all-time high sale price record of Triangle Horse Sales since its founding in 1979. The 2013 gray mare was sold when the gavel fell at a final bid of $200,000 from McKay Taylor of Spanish Fork, Utah.

Consigner Keyla Polizello Costa is well-experienced in the event of barrel racing, and has EquiStat earnings of $48,296 with $16,807 of those earnings on Zumanity Cristal CMV. Costa is no stranger to the sale ring in Oklahoma City as the sale of this horse broke her own record of having the all-time high sale price for Triangle. In 2021, she consigned a barrel racing horse, Spotlite Ta Fame, who topped the 2021 Spring Sale with a final bid of $170,000.
The first day of the Spring sale started off strong right out of the gate with the first horse to walk through becoming the second highest seller of the weekend. Hip No. 1, Squirrel Is Stylish, (Docs Stylish Oak x Pet Squirrel x Playdox), a 2018 sorrel mare, sold for $70,000. This mare was consigned by Jeremy Barwick of Bluff Dale, Texas and purchased by James Portman of Hooker, Oklahoma.
Other high-selling horses included Hip No. 128, Voodoos Handsome Jac (Shiners Voodoo Dr x Dunit Whiz Miss x Topsail Whiz), a 2018 palomino gelding, which sold for $53,000. The gelding was consigned by Parker Slavin and purchased by Lorie Tasos of Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
By the EquiStat $2 million sire Whizkey N Diamonds, Hip No. 188 Thischicsgonplatinum (Whiskey N Diamonds x This Chicsdundreamin x Magnum Chic Dream), a 2017 palomino mare, sold for $42,500 to Danny Hostetler of Buffalo, Missouri. The mare was consigned by Amelia Hermann.
