Top Ranches Consign to Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Sales

The popularity of the ranch horse in the American Quarter Horse breed is set to be on full display at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s (FWSSR) horse sales where top stock will ready for the taking in “The Best of the Remuda” Sale, the 66th Annual Select Quarter Horse Sale and the Invitational Ranch Horse Show and Sale January 14 and 15.

“These sales always bring a sense of excitement to the first weekend of the Stock Show,” said Horse Show Director Lauren Lovelace-Murray. “There is always a very enthusiastic and large crowd of bidders at these sales as they are a rare offering of stock from some of the most legendary ranches in the country.”

Lovelace-Murray noted that ranches invited to attend represent an elite group of Ranching Heritage Breeders that are AQHA member-owned ranches and individuals who represent longevity, honesty and integrity in raising quality American Quarter Horses and uphold ranching heritage traditions.

A part of Ranching Heritage Weekend presented by Ariat, the first to be held will be the highly anticipated FWSSR Heritage Sale featuring the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Best of the Remuda Sale January 14 at noon in the John Justin Arena.

The sale will feature 40 ranch geldings, broodmares, stallion prospects and top yearlings from ranches which have been recognized by AQHA as a top breeder of ranch horses. Ranches consigning to the sale include Haythorn Land & Cattle Company of Arthur, Neb.; Haythorn Ranch Company, Maxwell, Neb.; Moorhouse Ranch, Benjamin, Texas; Muleshoe Ranch, Gail, Texas; O RO Ranch, Prescott, Ariz., Silver Spur Ranch, Encampment, Wyoming; Spade Ranch, Lubbock, Texas; and the W.T. Waggoner Estate Inc. of Vernon, Texas.

Also on January 14 will be the 66th Annual Select Quarter Horse Sale offering premium riding horses.

On January 15 at 1 p.m. interested buyers will have an opportunity to see 8 outstanding ranch horse geldings compete in the Invitational Ranch Horse Show and Sale at Will Rogers Coliseum. Top geldings will be judged in the event in ranch reining and cattle work, then auctioned immediately following the competition. Ranches consigning to that sale include the Bonds Ranch; Pitchfork Cattle Operation, LLC; Sarco Creek Ranch; Silver Spur Ranch; Stuart Ranch; Tee Cross Ranches, LLC; Tule Ranch and the W.T Waggoner Estate.

Sales are included in the price of grounds admission at the show, which is $12 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 16 and free for children 5 and under.
