AQHA World Show Special Events

The 2022 Farnam AQHA World Championship Show and AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan), make up an exciting event that you won’t want to miss. Top athletes from around the globe will compete for over $2 million in purse and prizes at this year’s event October 27 – November 19 at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. Plus, general admission is free!

Not only can attendees look forward to watching the top equestrians and American Quarter Horses compete in the arena, but this year’s show is also filled with receptions and exciting special events.

Free Ride the Pattern Clinics, presented by Nutrena
AQHA Professional Horsemen from around the country are teaming up to provide free Ride the Pattern Clinics, presented by Nutrena, at the Farnam AQHA and Adequan® Select World. During the clinics, AQHA Professional Horsemen explain to the audience how they would complete a specific pattern from that show. The clinicians and tentative schedule for the Ride the Pattern clinics will be available soon!

Special Events
A variety of special events will also take place during the show. Be sure to mark your calendar before traveling to Oklahoma City.

  • October 27 – November 19: Visit the AQHA World Show Trade Show daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • October 27 – November 17: AQHA World Show Happy Hour special discounts daily from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • October 27-29: 43rd Annual Triangle Fall Sale. The sale has more than 425 consignments and is anticipated to attract the finest cutting, reined cow horse, reining, roping, barrel racing, trail and family horses once again, creating an amazing marketplace during the show. Learn more.
  • Friday, October 28: Welcome Fiesta at 3 p.m. at the Shiner Bock Bar. The Welcome Fiesta is sponsored by the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau.
  • Saturday, November 29: Cowboy Church Service at 9 a.m. in Barn 8.
  • Monday, October 31: Halloween Reception at 3 p.m. in the Super Barn. Be sure to wear your best Halloween costume for this festive event for the opportunity to take home the prize for best costume. There will also be trick-or-treating for kids!
  • Tuesday, November 1: Join AQHA for Team Wrangler Day, a special event where the Association will recognize the 2023 AQHA Team Wrangler members during an afternoon finals. Time will be announced at the show.
  • November 2-3: Intercollegiate Reining Horse Judging Contest. In cooperation with AQHA and the National Reining Horse Association, the Intercollegiate Reining Horse Judging Contest allows participants to judge live reining horse runs during the show.
  • Wednesday, November 2: Candy Shoppe, courtesy of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association, at 3 p.m. outside of the Show Office in the Super Barn.
  • Saturday, November 5: AQHA Collegiate Judging Contest at 8 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony later in the day. The contest now features opportunities for AQHYA members to audit the contest at no charge.
  • Don’t forget to set your clocks and watches back an hour for daylight saving time on November 6!
  • Sunday, November 6: Church Service at 9 a.m. in the Sales Pavilion.
  • Sunday, November 6: Pink Day Party at 3 p.m. in the Jim Norick Concourse. Be sure to wear pink to support the horsemen and -women who have fought cancer.
  • Sunday, November 6: Rein in Cancer Frisbee toss, for the chance to take home a 100x Shorty’s Caboy Hattery custom hat, will take place between the Level 3 senior ranch riding finals and open working western rail class. Frisbees will be sold on the fairgrounds during the show to benefit Rein in Cancer.
  • Friday, November 11: Wear red for Veteran’s Day to pay tribute to the men and women who have served our country.  
  • November 11-13: Oklahoma Christmas Show in the Bennett Event Center. Separate admission required.
  • Saturday, November 12: Pleasure Versatility Challenge, brought to you by Super Sires, slated for 6 p.m. in the Jim Norick Arena. Attendees are also invited to the Pleasure Versatility Challenge reception, sponsored by The Equine Chronicle, at 4:30 p.m. in the Jim Norick Concourse before the action begins in the arena.
  • Sunday, November 13: Church Service at 9 a.m. in the Sales Pavilion.
  • Sunday, November 13: “Yellowstone” Watch Party at 7 p.m. in the Jim Norick Arena.
  • Sunday, November 17:  Thank You Party at 3 p.m. in the Trade Show in Barn 3, sponsored by the Farnam AQHA and Adequan® Select World class sponsors.    
  • Tribute Night: AQHA will pay tribute to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Famers, past presidents, directors, directors-at-large and directors emeriti whom AQHA has lost since the 2021 Farnam AQHA and Adequan® Select World. Time and date will be announced at the show.

During the show, AQHA will also crown the 2022 Farnam Superhorse, AQHA All-Around Amateur, AQHA Select All-Around Amateur, Gene Graves Super Select Special Recognition recipient, Oklahoma City Leading Owner, Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show and the top Ranching Heritage-bred horses in the Level 3 and Level 2 open and amateur and Level 3 Select amateur divisions.

The top Level 3 open, amateur and Equestrians With Disabilities year-end high-point winners; AQHA All-Around Amateur; AQHA Select All-Around Amateur; AQHA All-Around Junior Horse; AQHA All-Around Senior Horse; AQHA Exhibitor of the Year; amateur Justin Boots Level 2 Exhibitor of the Year in each age division; Nutrena Don Burt AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year; Nutrena AQHA Professional Horsewoman of the Year; and Most Valuable Professional will be recognized throughout the 2022 Farnam AQHA and Adequan® Select World.
