All Lights are a Go for Gina Schumacher and CS O Bingo in Tulsa

Futurity season brings a certain thrill to competitors from all disciplines. The opportunity to see the latest and greatest progeny hit the pen and the promise of big titles and checks energize riders.

With a home-grown entry in The Invitational Futurity Non-Pro on Sept. 1, Gina Maria Schumacher was certainly motivated. The European’s plans fell into place, and Schumacher brought home the Level 4 Non-Pro Championship on CS O Bingo, a stallion sired by XCS Ranch-owned Snip O Lution and out of Smart Like Juice mare Bingo Juicy.

“I was hoping to make ‘Lution’ look good with Bingo as he was the only 3-year-old I had this year [by] him,” Schumacher told QHN. “[Bingo] is a clown and likes to get attention. He’s very funny to be around. He’s been really good at home, he is easy to ride and makes it easy for me!”

With the guidance of trainer Duane Latimer, Schumacher’s score of 220 won The Invitational Championship’s first-place check of $60,000.

“It was a dream come true to win on him [and] I wasn’t expecting it,” Schumacher said.

Held concurrently with the Tulsa Reining Classic’s XCS Ranch Non Pro Futurity, which Schumacher also won with CS O Bingo, The Invitational competition focuses on promoting the progeny of sires with less than $1 million in progeny earnings. Qualified stallions could enroll, and their 3-year-olds were eligible for $575,000 in prize money this year in Tulsa.

“A lot of people were involved and I can’t thank them enough,” Schumacher said. “Duane [Latimer] is always there to help me get horses ready [and] I’ve learned so much from him. I am very thankful for the opportunity to learn and ride with him. Also, the whole team at the show with their endless hours of work to keep our horses in shape, happy and sound.”

Schumacher also thanked her family and “biggest supporter,” Iain Bethke, for his support and motivation.

Reserve Champion in the Level 4 Non-Pro at The Invitational Reining and also the XCS Ranch Futurity Non-Pro was Emma Vanlandingham and SHR Hollywood Kid (The Kids Gotta Gun x Shinin In Hollywood x Shine Big Time). They scored a 219 for $35,000 in The Invitational and $3,376 in the XCS Ranch Non Pro Futurity.
