Well-Bred Metallic Cat Mare Tops Marketplace at Ardmore

A Metallic Cat mare out of a National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Reserve Champion topped the recent Marketplace at Ardmore online auction.

The mare, Metalic Rose, brought a top bid of $50,000 at the May 7 sale, which reported an overall average of $21,416, sale organizers said.

Susie Reed, sale manager for the Marketplace at Ardmore online auctions, said 93 percent of the 30 horses consigned sold.

“After two years of hosting twelve consecutive online sales, we have proven we can attract a solid set of performance horses, and the word is getting out,” Reed said in a statement. “We are fortunate to have the support of great consignors and enthusiastic buyers.”

Todd Bergen consigned the high seller, a 2016 sorrel mare, who is an NRCHA money earner and was bred to Reyzin The Cash. Metalic Rose, whose dam earned the 2008 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Reserve Championship and is a full sister to Lil Miss Shiney Chex – the second-all-time leading cow horse broodmare in EquiStat – sold to Kenneth Kvethe, Midland, Texas for $50,000.

The second-high seller was I See U Dancin, a winner of $15,221 who was purchased for $48,500 by David Kuhl, Centralia, Illinois.

Hailing from the maternal family of The Smart Look, one of the sport of cutting’s great producers, I See U Dancin (Playgun x Look The Look x High Brow Cat) is a full sister to $186,818-winner Watch Me Whip. The 2017 bay mare was consigned by Gale Force Quarter Horses.

Reed is gearing up for her next sale on July 9, and consignment forms are already available online. Other sale dates scheduled in 2022 are Aug. 27, and Nove. 12. In addition, the Marketplace at Ardmore’s traditional New Year’s Day sale is again slated for Jan. 1, 2023.
