Three cutting horses topped the most recent Marketplace at Admore Sale, which officials say recorded the highest average the company’s online sales hosted over the past two years.
Managed by Susie Reed, the March 5 event reported 86% sold and an average of $23,703, surpassing the highest average to date by more than $3,000.
The overall high seller and high-selling mare honors went to One Blu Boon Lena, a 2018 bay mare by EquiStat Elite $6 Million Sire Once In A Blu Boon consigned by Landon Little. A half sister to the winners of more than $325,284, the finished cutting horse out of a Smart Little Lena daughter sold for $46,500 to Nate Ahlin, of Payson, Utah.
Genuine Chrome Cat, winner of $11,053, sold to Jim Whitcher, of Scenic, South Dakota, for $46,000. The 2011 black stallion by EquiStat Elite $88 Million Sire High Brow Cat and out of Genuinly Alena (by Shorty Lena) was consigned by Lou Roman.
Nate Ahlin also purchased another sale topper – the high-selling gelding Cattomatic – for $38,000. A winner of more than $80,611, the 2013 sorrel gelding is by High Brow Cat and out of Haida Rey (by Dual Rey).
This was the eleventh online sale held by the Marketplace at Ardmore, and Reed has already started accepting consignments for her May 7 sale.
“Because of the pandemic, two years ago we switched from in-person to online auctions,” Reed said. “For 37 years previously we’d held all our sales in-person, and we were of course, nervous about how selling exclusively online would work out.”
Dates for the remaining 2022 sales are July 9, Aug. 27 and Nov. 12. In addition, the Marketplace at Ardmore’s traditional New Year’s Day sale is scheduled for Jan.1, 2023.
Consignment forms for the May 7, 2022 sale are available online at: www.themarketplaceatardmore.com – or call Reed 580-490-1103 for more information.
