EquiStat Elite $7 Million Sire Woody Be Tuff and a roster of noted producers will highlight the Center Ranch Dispersal Sale at this year’s Western Bloodstock’s National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Sales.
The dispersal was scheduled after the death of Center Ranch owner and celebrated economist Finis Welch. It will be held Thursday, Dec. 9 in Watt Arena at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
The sale includes several good-producing female families in the cutting and reined cow horse arenas, and consignments include the dam, Cat Digs Lucinda, of this year’s National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Champion, Zak 34.
“It’s a pretty phenomenal set of horses,” said Jeremy Barwick, owner of Western Bloodstock. “There’s lots and lots of highlights in that one, I think.
“Obviously, Woody Be Tuff, he’s pretty impressive [not only], what he’s done the last several years, but what he’s done this year is incredible.”
Stallion Consignments
The dispersal includes the three stallions on Center Ranch’s current roster: Woody Be Tuff, Dualin Boon and CR Highlight.
Of the three, Woody Be Tuff has the biggest sire record with more than $7 million in earnings. Woody Be Tuff’s progeny highlights include 2012 NCHA Futurity Open Co-Champion CR Tuff Hearted Cat ($276,864), who also sells in the dispersal, and multiple limited-age event cutting champion CR Tuff Lucy ($381,757).
In addition to Zak 34, his top-money earning cow horses include CR Tuffles N Lace ($132,765, out of Calie Del Rey x Dual Rey) and CR Tuff Guns N Roses ($72,705, out of Gypsy Rose Rey x Dual Rey). They’re among more than $1 million in winnings by Woody Be Tuff progeny in reined cow horse.
Dualin Boon, a son of Dual Rey, is the sire more than $839,445 in progeny earnings – including 2019 NCHA Open World Champion CR Gotcha Covered ($301,106).
The youngest sire on the Center Ranch Roster, CR Highlight, is a son of High Brow Cat and out of Shortys Starlight (by Grays Starlight) who earned $38,181. His first foals reached futurity age last year, and so far he has more than $19,203 in progeny earnings.

The quality of Center Ranch’s remaining mares that will be offered at the dispersal is extremely strong, Barwick said. The sale also includes multiple offspring of several top mares, who in many cases have offspring or embryos consigned to the sale by outside sires in addition to Center Ranch’s three stallions.
“We’ve got a very impressive set of mare left,” he said.
