In what might be one of the quickest jumps to the next tier on the National Reining Horse Association’s Million Dollar Sire roster, Gunnatrashya sailed past the Six Million Dollar mark during the NRHA Futurity.
The NRHA recently announced that as the year winds to a close, the son of NRHA 13 Million Dollar Sire Gunner and out of Natrasha (by Trashadeous), sits at No. 7 on NRHA’s all-time Leading Sire list with $6,788,072 in offspring earnings.
Owned by Arcese Quarter Horses USA, Gunnatrashya first became an NRHA Million Dollar Sire in 2017, less than three years after his first foal crop entered the show pen. In every subsequent year, the stallion bred by Dorminy Plantation, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, has passed another million-dollar milestone. Thanks to major event championships, Gunnatrashya actually surpassed two with the NRHA in 2021.
His offsprings earners were highlighted by Ten Thirty’s win in the NRHA Futurity Level 4 Open with Casey Deary (worth $350,000) and Gunna Stop’s win with Kole Price in the Million Dollar Competition at The Run For A Million (a $500,000 champion’s check).
There were 18 Gunnatrashya offspring competing in the NRHA Futurity Open finals, for total earnings of $671,856. The stallion was also well-represented in the CINCH Non Pro Futurity Finals, with eight entries earning $93,690. All totaled, Gunnatrashya foals were responsible for more than $765,545 at the NRHA Futurity alone.
Gunnatrashya is the eighth stallion to reach NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire status. The others who previously reached the rank are: Topsail Whiz, Hollywood Dun It, Smart Chic Olena, Wimpys Little Step, Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner), Magnum Chic Dream and Smart Spook.
When counting offspring earnings from other disciplines–– such as reined cow horse and cutting, where the stallion has also sired several winners – Gunnatrashya is on the verge of becoming an EquiStat Elite $7 Million Sire.
