Tobiano Gelding, Reining Horses Top Congress Ranch Horse Sale

A large crowd of buyers and spectators attended the first Congress Ranch Horse Sale held October 2, 2021 with the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, produced by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association.

The high selling horse was Lot 23 in the sale, Im Sharp By Freckles, a 2013 sorrel tobiano gelding by Smart Little Freckles who brought $35,000 from Rona Shapiro of Canal Winchester, Ohio.  Jessica Bunch from Robards, Kentucky, consigned and presented the fancy Paint gelding out of Skips Lucky Baby (by Skip Leotoe Bars).

Other top sellers include: Lil Coded Jac (Jacs Electric Spark x Hot Coded Candy x The Hot Express) who brought a price of $33,000 from Jane S. Fisher, of New York, for consignor Cooper Smith Show Horses, of Texas; Miss Bonnie Jac (HF Mobster x Char Lena Jac x Mifillena) who sold for $30,500 to Buddy Vaughn, of Ohio, for consignor Lynch Performance Horses; Sunset Acres Eclipse, a Friesian Sport gelding brought $30,000 from Floridian Jane Bistline for seller Daniel Miller, of Ohio; and Katie Chex Your Gun, a double-registered mare (Gunners Indian x Howdy Nu Cash x Nu Chex To Cash) who also sold for $30,000 to Jeff and Jenny Honey, of Arkansas, for consignor Cooper Smith Quarter Horses.

Officials say 40 horses sold to new owners through the sale with the top five selling for an average price of $31,700. The top ten averaged $28,200 and the average for all horses sold was $16,296.

The Congress Ranch Horse Sale offered a variety of ranch, trail and family horses, as well as reining, cutting and rope show horses and prospects. The offering included Quarter Horses, Paints, Friesian cross and some ponies. 

The FarmVet Leading Consignor for the Congress Ranch Horse Sale was Cooper Smith Show Horses from Whitesboro, Texas, with total sales of $106,600 on five horses including two of the top five selling horses in the sale. Cooper Smith will receive a FarmVet turnout sheet with hood. 

The sale was managed for the Ohio Quarter Horse Association by Mike and Stephanie Jennings of Professional Horse Services, LLC of Round Hill, Virginia.
