A 7-year-old cutting gelding with several wins in the Open and Non-Pro divisions topped the Marketplace at Ardmore’s August Online Sale.
Ninety-six percent sold with an overall average of $16,652. The top 10 head averaged $23,100.
“Sale day started out fairly calm, the pace picked up after lunch, and by the time we closed out midafternoon, it definitely had gotten Western,” Sale Manager Susie Reed said in a statement. “August 28 was the most exciting online sale we’ve had to date.”
The high seller was Rey Too Purdy, a 2014 bay gelding by EquiStat Elite $9 Million Sire Dual Smart Rey and out of ARC Purr D Boons Mal (by Peptoboonsmal). An earner of $74,448, the horse was consigned by Amy Jones, and Tony Langdon placed the winning bid of $30,500.
Second-high seller was Smooth Caddy, a 2017 chestnut mare by Smooth As A Cat and out of Desires Rey (by Dual Rey). Officials say the mare consigned by Jim and Gay Karhan sold for $27,500 to Sherri Happel.
Third-high seller was Spooks Melody, a 2002 daughter of Grays Starlight and out of Melody Lena (by Maxi Lena). The cutting winner of $34,106 sold for $26,000 to Ryan Bevier with a breeding to Reyzin The Cash. She was consigned by Marc Gordon.
