Applications Open for AQHA Best Remuda Awards

The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) is accepting applications for two awards that honor breeders who raise Quarter Horses for ranch work.

The AQHA Best Remuda Award honors such a ranch in the United States, and the International Best Remuda Award recognizes a ranch in other parts of the world. Deadlines for both are Nov. 30.

Applicants for the 2022 awards must be a ranch that owns five or more registered American Quarter Horse mares used to produce horses for ranch work, breed and register at least five foals annually, and be a member in good standing with AQHA. Applicants from the United States must be an AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder. International applicants are highly encouraged to be a Ranching Heritage Breeder. Previous recipients of the awards may not reapply; however, previous applicants are encouraged to reapply. To apply for these awards, download the U.S. application or the international application.

The 2021 Best Remuda Award winner, Miller Land & Livestock; the 2021 International Best Remuda Award winner, Estancia San Rafael; and the 2020 International Best Remuda Award winner, Fazenda Campanario, will be presented during the AQHA Breeder Banquet tentatively scheduled during the 2022 AQHA Convention in Las Vegas.
