NCHA Inks Multi-Year Futurity Sponsorship With Metallic Cat

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) has expanded its partnership with Rocking P Ranch and Metallic Cat to include title sponsorship of the NCHA World Championship Futurity, officials say.

Located in Fort Worth, Texas, Rocking P Ranch was established in 2015 and is home to two of the industry’s top sires, EquiStat Elite $44 Million Sire Metallic Cat and EquiStat Elite $6 Million Sire Spots Hot

In 2020, Metallic Cat was the leading sire of the NCHA Futurity with his offspring collecting more than $1 million dollars in earnings at the show.

“Rocking P and Metallic Cat have been valued partners of the NCHA and title sponsor of our Summer Cutting Spectacular for the past few years,” Jay Winborn, NCHA executive director, said in a statement. “The additions of the Metallic Cat incentives and production sale have brought added value and excitement to our sport in recent years. I am excited to have them continue their sponsorship with the NCHA and expand it to the NCHA Futurity.”

Starting in 2021, Metallic Cat will be recognized as the title sponsor of the NCHA Futurity through 2025. In addition to the title sponsorship, Rocking P will now host their annual production sale in conjunction with the NCHA Western Bloodstock Futurity Sales beginning in 2022.

The Metallic Cat Incentive will also be paid out starting with the 2022 event.

“I believe our incentive program has brought a lot to the competitors and breeders, and we plan to continue that at the Futurity starting next year,” Bobby Patton, owner of Metallic Cat, said. “We have talked about leaving it similar to what we have in place now, expanding it to apply all owners that have a paid breeding to Metallic Cat, or taking that incentive money and paying out to the finalists.

“Our number one goal with this incentive is to say thank you to those who have believed in Metallic Cat over the years as well as those who continue to support the cutting industry.”

In addition to the new partnership, the NCHA Futurity advancing rules have been revised in the Open division to include 75 horses, plus ties, advancing to the semi-finals and increasing the finals to 25 horses, plus ties.
