Launching Metallic Cat

Fults Ranch, which launched the stallion career of Equi-Stat Elite $43 Million Sire Metallic Cat, who it sold in 2017 to Rocking P Ranch, now stands his son, NCHA Futurity Open Champion Stevie Rey Von. Fults Ranch has bred the winners of more than $3.3 million.

Many of the Fults Ranch-bred winners were sons and daughters of Metallic Cat, including all of the top five money-winning horses bred by the ranch:

  • NCHA Open Horse of the Year Metallic Rebel ($437,965, out of Sweet Abra x Abrakadabracre)
  • Breeder’s Invitational Derby Open Champion Slooow Ride ($236,006, out of Sweet Shorty Lena x Smart Little Lena)
  • Champayne Dreams ($219,919, out of Hoo Rey For Dreams x Dual Rey)
  • Kattalyst ($199,510, out of Hottness x Spots Hot)
  • Magistic Moon ($187,630, out of Sweet Abra x Abrakadabracre)

The ranch found particular success pairing Metallic Cat with daughters of Abrakadabracre, especially Sweet Abra. The mare out of The Better Choice (by SR Instant Choice) has foaled the winners of nearly $1.9 million with average earnings of $89,861 per foal and a whopping 9 foals who won more than $100,000.

According to Equi-Stat Magic Cross Statistics published in the 2021 Quarter Horse News Spring Edition, the pairing of Metallic Cat and Abrakadabacre mares was the 13th most successful cross in the cutting industry with 18 offspring earning more than $1.4 million from Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2020.

According to Western Bloodstock’s website, a full list of events for the sale will be released soon. Though it will be conducted at the ranch, the sale will be held during the West Texas Futurity show in Amarillo, Texas.
