The East Coast Stock Horse Association (ECSHA) is proud to launch its eighth consecutive season with $15,000 in added prize money in the open division, bringing the total season cash and prize awards to more than $35,000 for open and amateur participants competing in ECSHA shows! Also new this year is a standalone Limited Amateur Division in our AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse (VRH) and ECSHA classes, added to AQHA Ranch Riding and Ranch Trail classes, all eligible for national AQHA point tallies.
ECSHA continues to be the family friendly, all-breed horse association welcome to ranch riders of all skill levels. You can get started in the non-cow classes, like ranch riding and rail classes, or try your hand at the cattle drive, break-away ranch roping and trail challenge classes, or step up to ranch reining, cutting, cow work and roping. Remember, ECSHA is a charter member of the National Ranch and Stock Horse Alliance, allowing you to qualify for the national finals in Guthrie, OK in June no matter what breed your horse is and to tally ECSHA points on your horse with the AQHA.
ECSHA shows are held the first weekend (Saturday-Sunday) of May, June, July, September and October, and are produced by Step of Faith Ministries (AQHA classes) and Horsemen’s International Ministry (ECSHA). Every Saturday night on show weekends we have a potluck campfire gathering with a short ‘cowboy church’ afterwards. Primitive camping slots are available, and we are building new show stalls to meet our exploding demand! Here are the 2021 show dates, held in Reva, Virginia:
- May 1-2 Ranch Horse Gathering
- June 5-6 Cowboy Showcase
- July 3-4 Summer Shootout
- Sep 4-5 Fall Roundup
- Oct 2-3 Double Barrel Showdown
ESCHA classes include Ranch Cutting, Ranch Reining, Ranch Rail and Ranch Trail on Saturdays and Ranch Cow Work (Limited and Amateur), Ranch Riding, and Ranch Roping (breakaway) on Sundays. AQHA VRH Ranch Cutting, Reining and Trail scoring are simultaneous with these runs on Saturday as are VRH Cow Work (Limited and Amateur), VRH Ranch Riding on Sunday. VRH confirmation judging will be held this year at the end of Saturday classes. This will allow competitors to compete in AQHA Ranch Riding and Trail classes held on Sunday.
