Sons of top cutting and reining stallions led the way at the Marketplace at Ardmore’s February Online Sale.
Officials with the sale say the top five horses sold for an average of $26,000, and the top ten sold averaged $21,650.
“With an overall average of $13,708, our February Sale was our best one yet,” Sale Manager Susie Reed said of the sale, which was held Feb. 26-27. “Plus, we sold 85%.”
High Seller
The high seller, Gunnagetchagood, was a son of Equi-Stat Elite $4 Million Sire Gunnatrashya consigned by WW Ranch LLC. Trained in reining and ranch riding, this 2016 sorrel stallion out of Sugars Good N Plenty (by Lenas Sugarman) sold for $35,000.
In addition, the stallion bred by Carin Valcich is enrolled in the National Reining Breeder’s Classic program.
High-Selling Gelding
Finished cutting horse Closer was the high-selling gelding, bringing a final bid of $27,000 for consigner Shane Bingham. The 2017 chestnut bred by Phil and Mary Ann Rapp is by National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Open Horse of the Year Kit Kat Sugar and out of Autumns Closin In (by Autumn Acre). He is a half-sibling to winning cutting horse Close To Metal ($30,421, by Metallic Cat).
“We were happy to welcome several new customers for the February 26 and 27 sale,” Reed said. “Since July 2020 when we switched from in-person to online sales, the convenience and cost effectiveness of selling online is proving to be a big attraction for consignors and buyers alike.”
The next Marketplace at Ardmore Online Sale is slated for April 24. Consignment forms are available online at: www.themarketplaceatardmore.com – or call Reed 580-490-1103 for more information.
