Groups Receive $132,000 from American Quarter Horse Foundation

Equine-assisted activities and therapies centers received more than $132,000 this year from the American Quarter Horse Foundation’s America’s Horse Cares program.

The group announced this week it gave out the grants to support individualized employee/volunteer training and center-immersion training through approved educational clinics or workshops. The Arizona Fund grants support individualized employee/volunteer training, center immersion training and scholarships or financial assistance for client expenses.

“The American Quarter Horse Foundation is proud to offer this opportunity through the America’s Horse Cares grant program,” said Becky Dunning, Foundation Council member. “For those who need the horse the most, these grants provide true impact. Thank you to our donors for allowing us to award this much needed funding.”

The America’s Horse Cares grant program awards funding to centers that provide equine-assisted activities and therapies to individuals with special needs. Funding supports continuing education and professional certification for therapists, mental health professionals, employees and volunteers who work one-on-one with clients to provide much-needed care. Through America’s Horse Cares, the Foundation has awarded 387 grants totaling more than $1.3 million to support equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Since 2002, the Foundation has been on a journey to help ensure special-needs individuals experience the freedom and life-changing benefits that come from being horseback. The equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) industry is growing rapidly, as therapists and medical professionals are gaining awareness of the powerful benefits that come from riding and working with our horse. The American Quarter Horse Foundation is dedicated to facilitating opportunities for individuals in need and being responsive to the growing industry.
