Utah State University Annual Production Sale Now Online

Several sons and daughters of leading Western performance horse stallions are featured in this year’s Utah State University Annual Production Sale.

Bidding is open for this year’s Utah State University Annual Production Sale, an online event featuring 16 lots. The deadline for bids is 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3 (Mountain Time).

This year’s offering includes a broodmare out of 1999 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity Open Champion Shania Cee, as well as prospects sired by Western performance horse stallions such as WR This Cats Smart, Woody Be Tuff, Hashtags, Sannman and Cromed Out Mercedes.

The online auction and catalog listings are available at Pro Horse Services.

In the program, prospects started in the university’s program are taught basic ground work skills such as tying, grooming, leading, picking up feet, lunging, and working in a round pen. They are taught to load/unload in a trailer, and stand for the farrier and vet.

In addition, prospects are also trained to be bathed, clipped, and blanketed. Under saddle, the colts are taught basic body control at the walk, jog, and lope. Throughout the semester the colts are introduced to a variety of environments such as indoor/outdoor riding arenas, being ridden over logs and bridges and crossing water.
