In the competitive stallion market, it’s crucial for young stallions to hit the ground running with their first foal crops. The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity is the ultimate place for freshman sires to leap ahead.
This year, Reyzin The Cash and Smooth Talkin Style are leading the way in the Open as the second round gets underway at the 2020 NCHA Futurity in Fort Worth.
The two well-bred, accomplished cutting horses — Reyzin The Cash was the NCHA Summer Spectacular Derby Open Champion and Smooth Talkin Style was NCHA Open Horse of the Year — have the largest number of entries to make the second round of the Open.
They also have the highest progeny earnings going into the show — Smooth Talkin Style has $159,449 going into the show and Reyzin The Cash’s lifetime progeny earnings stand at $128,869 — of any first-year stallion with foals in the competition.
Foals from the first crops of five stallions earned their way into the second round of the NCHA Futurity Open, which started Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth.
Other stallions whose debut crops are competing in round two of the NCHA Futurity Open are Sannman and Dont Stopp Believin, with four entries, as well as CR Highlight, who had one entrant to qualify for the second round.
