Brian Bell Leads NRHA Futurity Open After Day 1

The first section of the first go of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity Open is in the books, and Brian Bell topped the day with Gunnabebigtime.

Bell, of Pilot Point, Texas, and the son of Equi-Stat Elite $4 Million Sire Gunnatrashya and out of Big Time Jazzy (by Shine Big Time) marked a big 223.5 for owner-breed Tami Nelson.

That score gave them the lead in the Level 4 Open.

Levels 3 & 2 Open

Currently tied for the lead of the Level 3 Open lead with a score of 219.5 is Ryan Rushing with TR Ice Ice Baby, and Sebastian Petroll, and Dunit the Walla Way. TR Ice Baby (SG Frozen Enterpise x Ms Whiz Dunit x Topsail Whiz) is owned by Alison Bendele.

Petroll and Dunit The Walla Way’s score of 219.5 also was the highest score in the Level 2 Open. Dunit The Walla Way is a mare by Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Sire Walla Walla Whiz and out of Dunit The Gunner Way (Colonels Smoking Sun [Gunner])). She is owned by Ellen Lloyd Cummins.

Level 1 Open

Sitting atop the Level 1 Open leaderboard with a 214 is Julia Roshelli on Frank Costantini’s Gunsdynamitesnchics. Gunsdynamitesnchics is by Gunnin For Chics and out of Lenas Dynamite Chic (by Smart Chic Olena)

The first section of the NRHA Open Futurity continues through Saturday, after which time the top 75 plus ties in Levels 4-1 will advance to the semi-final round, which begins Monday. The clean-slate MS Diamonds TX Level 4 Open Futurity Finals, where the Champion will take home a check for a quarter-million dollars, will be held Saturday, Dec. 5.
