A yearling colt from a family steeped with reining and reined cow horse performers got the top bid at the recent ProFit Equine Online Sale.
Seventy-two head were offered in the Texas sales-fitting company’s online auction, which closed to bidding on Sept. 27.
The Sinner
The distinction of sales topper for the 2020 ProFit Equine Online Sale went to The Sinner, a 2019 bay stallion by Equi-Stat Elite $3 Million Sire Gunnatrashya and out of National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Futurity Open Reserve Champion Love Em N Lena (by Smart Little Lena) who fetched a $75,000 bid from Kelsey Price.
Consigned by Cam Essick, the colt is a full brother to National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity Open finalist Loveya ($127,066) and a half-brother to Reining By The Bay Derby Non-Pro Co-Champion Who Loves You ($42,640, by Walla Walla Whiz). He’s also a maternal half-sibling to NRCHA Futurity Open Finalist This One Time ($35,456, by One Time Pepto).
As of sale time, his dam had compiled an Equi-Stat produce record of more than $321,338.
Love Em N Lena has been a hit at the sales ring over the years, with foals fetching high prices at both the industry’s reining and reined cow horse sales.
Gunners Fancy Chic
With a final bid of $60,000, the next-highest seller was 9-year-old mare Gunners Fancy Chic.
An earner of more than $11,531 in the reining pen, the daughter of Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner) and out of Chics Marie (by Smart Chic Olena) was consigned in foal to Shine Chic Shine.
Gunners Fancy Chic is the third-highest earner for her dam, who has foaled the winners of more than $106,000.
The winning bidder on Gunners Fancy Chic was Grey-Leigh Wilson. She was consigned to the sale by MS Stables.
